In partnership with the Australian Injecting and Illicit Drug Users League (AIVL), this webinar featured presentations about how the knowledges of people who use drugs and wider communities, can be incorporated into early warning and prompt response systems for the benefits of monitoring and harm-reduction.  

Speakers shared examples of practice from around the world, followed by a panel discussion focused on lessons for the Australian context.

  • An overview of TxCOPE, a Texas-based, co-designed and community driven program to improve opioid overdose reporting and data-driven decision-making.   
  • Insights from the British Columbia Drug Overdose and Alert Partnership (DOAP) and the Professionals for Ethical Engagement of Peers (PEEP) Project
  • An update and overview about The Community Drug Reporting System, a co-designed project led by NCCRED and AIVL which will establish a data collection and moderation system through which to incorporate experiential reports provided by people who use drugs into drug-related early warning systems
